I know that, and it has worked both ways in this matter.  

Björn's biggest mistake was in letting the E-list lapse in 
the first place.

Thing is, he's never seen it that way.  As on many major issues, 
people on both sides feel that they only their point of view is 
the correct view.  In the case of the E-list, for reason known 
only to him, Björn decided that he had to have a major re-write  
of the software so that he could include everyone under the sun 
as a co-mod.

His posting of "nigger" brought a lot of feedback.  That his country 
may use that term in a different fashion was his excuse.  It didn't 
natter that the word is not considered polite, and is in fact 
quite deroggatory in this country didn't phase him in the least.

He doesn't have to leave it, but he does need to step down.  As it 
is, I'm sure he'd been equally as pissed off if another Editor took 
an anti-Europe stance along the lines of his US-bashing.
