Actually, in those days, there was no conservation. The Buffalo was nearly
wiped out due to sport shooting. They layed where they were shot and the
meat rotted off the bones or was eaten by scanvengers. We can thank Teddy
Roosevelt for what's there today.

Interesting to note that they mention the Chandler tree as a private
business that charges people to drive thru their tree.  It's been a while,
but I don't recall paying to drive thru it. I remember it as a park.

A Sequoia is still a redwood and a member of the redwood cypress family.
They can dispute that fact if they want to. The Sequoia redwood is just
the tallest of the redwoods.

LOL! I'll bet the size of the openings is within a foot of each other.

A few years back, a young conservationist camped in the tree tops of a
redwood forrest. She was up there for quite a while and refused to come
down unless the company that owned the forrest promised to stop culling
out the trees. I don't recall how it came out, but she did lose a lot of
weight while she was up there. Probably a good thing.
