Americans like diversity. There's no one person the team depends on to
play the game well. That's why there are substitutes (alternate players).

OTH, a soccer player can't push a 300 pound American football lineman
around. Nor could a soccer player sprint 100 plus yards with a ball in his

That's a new one. Since when are the field players allowed to use their
hands?

Not in my book. All things considered, they're not real athletes in the
real sense of Olympic Games. i.e. they didn't play soccer during the
original Greek olympics.

Not in my book. It's just a lot of overtime that could be better spent on
real olympic activities.

Correction: Soccer was yet to evolve to the game you're familiar with
today. It was being played in England during those times, long before it
was being played on the uro continent. As I mentioned, there were no rules
per se' until 1815 and the game really was banned at one time.

Pig skin ball shaped to fit the foot for kicking, i.e football. It was
never intended to be thrown, but somebody found out that it's a natural
for throwing. BTW, it can be thrown at speeds a soccer ball can't.

Football is a collision sport played by real men.

To stop the offense from advancing the ball, the defense must tackle the
player with the ball by knocking him down. (You'd get kicked out of a
soccer game for un-necessary roughness in doing this)

As such, defensive players must use some form of physical contact to bring
the ball-carrier to the ground, within certain rules and guidelines.

Tacklers cannot kick, punch or trip the runner. (as in soccer) They also
cannot grab the face mask of the runner's helmet or lead into a tackle
with their own helmet.

Despite these and other rules regarding unnecessary roughness, most other
forms of tackling are legal. Blockers and defenders trying to evade them
also have wide leeway in trying to force their opponents out of the way.

Quarterbacks are regularly hit by defenders coming on full speed from
outside the quarterback's field of vision. 300 > 200 = 200 lands flat on
his back with 300 on top of him.

As I mentioned before, only real men can play football.
