Ärende: Lax Gun Regulations
===========================
Hello Roy,

>RW>You dumb ass. Why aren't you reporting on the lax gun laws in your
>RW>own state?

>LL>You didn't ask.

RW>I shouldn't have to. Clean up your own back yard before critizing someone
RW>elses.

I try. But this is Louisiana. Land of the stupid.

>RW>From the site you got your mis-information:

>RW>States with the weakest gun laws. Louisiana!

>LL>Tied with Kentucky and Oklahoma for last.

RW>According to the nitwits at Brady, yes.

Different site - http://www.stategunlaws.org/

However, the Brady Campaign site is very good,
and is highly recommended -

http://www.bradycampaign.org/

Please note the Brady Campaign site does show a link to the
stategunlaws site. Both sites are excellent.

RW>In reality, they're among the states who recognize the freedom
RW>given by the 2nd Amendment.

What "freedom" might that be? For states to have a well regulated
Militia, yes. For individuals within that well regulated Militia to
keep and bear arms, yes. But other than that, there is no absolute
right granted to individuals to own guns or firearms of any kind.

IOW, the amendment is addressed to the police power of the state,
with respect to the individuals owning arms.

RW>Perhaps you can tell us about the really lax gun laws of the state of
RW>Vermont.

California has the strongest gun laws of any state. Louisiana
without much argument has the worst. Gun laws in Vermont are very
strict by Louisiana standards. Which isn't saying much.

RW>They've certainly proven themselves to be more progressive than
RW>Louisiana.

Louisiana has the best politicians that money can buy. Even
though Illinois is trying its damndest to take that title away.
But never fear. Howard Dean might come to their rescue.

>LL>But then, that was before the Louisiana state legislature
>LL>passed into law the right for employees to bring concealed
>LL>weapons to work or their place of business.

RW>Thus, bringing the state on a par with other freedom loving states.

Louisiana has a long way to go to be on par with California.
So does South Carolina. And Texas. And Kentucky. And Oklahoma.
And other freedom-hating states.

>LL>That should make Louisiana #1, or dead last, depending on POV.

RW>When LA passes a 'Castle Doctrine', I'll take notice. Oh wait! They
RW>already did that in 2006.

Give us time. Before you know it, Louisiana will allow guns to be
sold in vending machines.

>LL>If not, then they'll have to pass what they failed to do last
>LL>time - a bill to allow college students to bring concealed weapons
>LL>to class. Guaranteed to force professors to grant every student
>LL>an A+ for every paper and grade.

RW>Nonsense. If a student is granted the right to carry at college (some
RW>states give that right to people who're over 21 only), then the professor
RW>will also have that right. The two of them combined will be able to thwart
RW>the nut cases like yourself, if that which happened in Virginia were to
RW>happen in Louisisana.

A professor is only one person, versus hundreds of armed students.
No way the professor is going to be able to off all them students
before at least one of those students offs the professor.
