On the one hand you can use nickel in electrical conductors, but on the
other hand, it's also used to make heating element wires where it's more

I used to cut ceramic with a diamond cutter. And as you say, I used
diamond to dress carborundum grinding wheels.

Diamonds as you know them (in jewelry) aren't used in industry very often.
What is called black diamond is, which is what I used to dress the
carborundum wheel I mentioned above. I also have a hand-held diamond on
a stick to dress the grinding wheels in my garage.
