RW>>>> She didn't actually violate any laws.
MvdV>>> She violated the law, got convicted end sentenced to eight years
MvdV>>> of prison.
RW>> She didn't get 8 years for buying alcohol...she got 8 years on
RW>> trumped up charges that were dropped.
MvdV> No more trumped up than the charges against Menno Blom.
LOL! Only fools fight lost battles to the bitter end.
MvdV> Byung the alcohol is what got her the attention of the authorities.
Wrong. She brought attention to herself long before that. That's why her
press pass was revoked.
MvdV> When they took a closer look, they found her in possession of
MvdV> classified documents.
Wrong.
MvdV> And the charges were not dropped, Her sentence was reduced to two
MvdV> yeras and converted into a suspended sentence, so she wad set free
MvdV> on parole.
That's as good as dropped.
MvdV> If she viloates the conditions of the parole, she can still go back
MvdV> to jail. If she is stupid enough to go to Iran again...
Who said she ever left Iran?
MvdV> At least she got a trial. Contrary to Sami Al-Haj, an Al Jazeera
MvdV> cameraman who was held for six years in Guantanamo by the U.S.
MvdV> government. Without at trial and without being charged.
Shit happens...next time he'll think twice about getting involved with
terrorists.
RW>>>> He did. We've already been there, done that, he violated the law,
RW>>>> got convicted, sentenced to two years in prison, went home a
RW>>>> smarter person.
MvdV>>> Same with saberi.
RW>> She didn't do more than a few months time.
MvdV> Because under political pressure from the US her sentence was
MvdV> suspended.
The US didn't put any pressure on the Iranians...
RW>> She openly admitted that she bought a bottle of wine.
MvdV> So contrary to what you claimed she violated the law.
Did she?
RW>> "She said that she had bought a bottle of wine and the person that
RW>> sold it had reported it and then they came and arrested her," her
RW>> father said, adding that the wine purchase was just an excuse to
RW>> arrest her.
MvdV> Hearsay.
A direct quote from her father. If it wasn't so, the Iranians would have
refuted what he said. They haven't.
MvdV>>>>> In Iran it is against the law to work as a reporter without
MvdV>>>>> proper credentials.
RW>>>> She had the credentials, which were revoked in 2006.
MvdV>>> If they were revoked, she did not have them.
RW>> "National Public Radio, the US radio station for which Ms Saberi
RW>> reported, confirmed that Iran had revoked her press credentials but
RW>> said that they had tolerated her continuing to file short "on the
RW>> spot" news stories."
MvdV> So she did not have credential at the time of her arrest. The claim
MvdV> that it was tolerated is meaningless. Anyone can make such a claim.
Apparently the Iranians didn't pay her any attention, or she would have
been arrested before 3 years had passed. That implies that they tolerated
whatever she was doing.
MvdV>>> She was born in the US. All the reports speak about an
MvdV>>> "American Journalist".
RW>> "Ms Saberi is the latest of several Iranian-Americans and other dual
RW>> nationals holding Iranian passports"
MvdV> Iran does not recognose dual nationality. She was in iran when she
MvdV> was arrested.
Iranian Judiciary, accused Haleh Esfandiari, Kian Tajbakhsh and Parnaz
Azima of "Acting against national security by engaging in propaganda
against The Islamic Republic Of Iran and spying on for foreigners.
"Azima, a reporter for the Persian-language services of Radio Free Europe
who holds both Iranian and American citizenship, is also being prevented
from leaving Iran. Her passport was confiscated by the authorities in
January 2007. On May 21, following the deposit of a large bail payment,
the authorities refused to return her passport."
MvdV> Saberi was born in the US. She was raised in the US. For all
MvdV> intents and purposes she is American.
Better check here photograph. She doesn't dress like, doesn't talk like,
nor does she act like an American. She's Iranian thru and thru...
Iranian intelligence agents often bring politically motivated charges of
"endangering national security" against activists and intellectuals. The
detentions and travel bans are part of a broad crackdown being mounted
against Iranian human rights activists, students, and labor organizers and
etc by Iranian intelligence services.
MvdV> In the US they do not like young man who respond to the mating call
MvdV> of willing young American females. Menno Blom made the mistake of
MvdV> not taking that into account.
LOL! Only fools fight lost battles to the bitter end.
MvdV> In Iran they do not like gorgeous young American females that issue
MvdV> mating calls. Roxana Saberi made the mistake of not taking that
MvdV> into account.
LOL! Only fools fight lost battles to the bitter end.
RW>> Maybe you should brush up on your knowledge of 'dual nationals'...
MvdV> Maybe you should brush up on your knowledge of Iranian law.
Age before beauty.
MvdV> Iran does not recognise dual nationality.
If not, why do they confiscate non-Iranian passports?
RW>> "Ms Saberi, who holds an Iranian passport in addition to her
RW>> American one, has lived in the Islamic republic for the past six
RW>> years."
MvdV> That does not unmake her an American. Iran does not recognise dual
MvdV> citizenship.
If not, why do they confiscate non-Iranian passports?
MvdV>>>>> Same story, both were in violation of the country they
MvdV>>>>> visited.
RW>>>> She wasn't a visitor, she is a resident, holds an Iranian
RW>>>> passport and a US passport. Which isn't illegal.
MvdV> Iran does not recognise dual citizenship.
If not, why do they confiscate non-Iranian passports?
MvdV>>> The Iranian passport was only because of her Iranian father.
MvdV>>> Who lives in he USA. For all intents and purposes she is
MvdV>>> American.
RW>> "Ms Saberi is the latest of several Iranian-Americans and other dual
RW>> nationals holding Iranian passports"
MvdV> Iran does not recognise dual citizenship.
If not, why do they confiscate non-Iranian passports?
MvdV>>> If you ask me I'd say she was even more stupid than Blom.
RW>> Nobody could be stupider than Blom.
MvdV>>> Blom fell into a trap.
RW>> Blom built his own trap...
MvdV> Then so did Saberi. Man, look at her. She is gorgeous!
She's an Iranian...she's young looking, but not gorgeous. Her nose is the
size of a camel's, her face will soon have the shadows of a mustache and
sideburns, she soon will be as attractive as a camel's ass. Worst of all,
her nose will continue to increase in size the older she gets.

RW>> Some people have a cause they must follow. Young Iranians who get a
RW>> taste of freedom will return to Iran to help out those in the
RW>> country who also have a cause.
MvdV> Bullshit. She was not "returning to Iran" She is born and raised in
MvdV> America. She is an American.
Bullshit. She is an Iranian, not an American. Perhaps in two more
generations with a change in attitudes and intra-marital offspring
educated in America, the next generation might get lucky and be American.
Iranian intelligence agents often bring politically motivated charges of
"endangering national security" against activists and intellectuals. The
detentions and travel bans are part of a broad crackdown being mounted
against Iranian human rights activists, students, and labor organizers and
etc by Iranian intelligence services.
RW>> Young people are like that.
MvdV> And sometimes young people are stupid. Like Blom and Saberi.
Blom certainly was. Saberi has a different attitude about herself. She
didn't live in Iran for the last six years looking for 14yo sex partners.
MvdV>>> Not only is Iran womanunfriendly, it is also American unfriendly.
MvdV>>> If you walk into a snake pit, don't complain if you get bitten.
RW>> I'd say you're sticking your nose where it doesn't belong. What she
RW>> does is none of your business.
MvdV> The truth hurts eh?
I don't consider her business mine, if that's what you're infering.
MvdV>>> She was born in the USA. She *went* to live there. Her own
MvdV>>> decision.
RW>> She's now 31 years old, free to make such decisions 13 years ago...
MvdV> Of course she is free to make her own decisions. But if she makes
MvdV> stupid decisions, she has to accept the consequences.
How much jail time did she do again? Compare that to Blom's jail time and
tell us who is the stupid one.
MvdV>>> She deserved to spent the full eight years in prison for that
MvdV>>> stupidity.
RW>> Just as Blom deserved to be shot by firing squad for his stupidity.
MvdV> That is not how the US court ruled.
It's a good thing he wasn't tried in an Iranian court eh!
