Apples and oranges again. Let's talk again when you buy the cars you list
overseas and import them into the USA. The question isn't where the car was
made, but where it was sold. Aside from which, you only list American cars
above, and those should present no problems anyway when sold in the USA.

Maybe in the States, but not here. Cars made anywhere in the EU are allowed to
drive and be registered in Germany without changes (which wasn't always the
case, but since the EU has regulated inter"state" commerce is). And on the
basis of EU regulations on prohibitioin of trade restrictions within the EU, I
would guess this applies throughout the EU.

Just for the record, the emissions requirements in the EU are probably more
strict than in the USA, except possibly for California.

Right. And the whole topic revolves around importation from ANOTHER country.

How true, but remember this is an inner-EU affair. Cars from outside the EU -
such as American cars - do not benefit from this any more than foreign cars
sold outside the States do in the USA.
