False hope I'd say. Z6 is dead. It has been dead for quit some time. Seems to
me you are doing what the old Egyptians were doing with their deceased faraos.
They hung on to the body...

And Z6 was a monoculture when it was still alive? Oh c'mon, you are not going
to try to make me believe there are no cultural differences between Japan and
China? Between the Philippines and India? Between Thailand and Vietnam? Between
Switzerland and Finland? *Of course* there are cultural differences. A zone is
much to big an area to not have cultural differences within its bounderies. If
cultural differences were a reason to split up a zone, every village over
10.000 inhabitants should have it own zone.

"Cultural differences" is a nonsense argument.

The FidoNet community can decide te restructure any zone any time. No need for
place holders to do that.

You seem to forget that it is the ZCs who compile their own version of the
nodelist. The ZCC does not control what they put in their makenl control file.

My guess is that at least some ZCs will drop he placeholder after a respectful
mourning period. No matter what the ZCC says...

If rubbish software that has zone 6 hard coded exists, we have no idea if it
will skip harmlessly over a place keeper. If that software it that badly
designed, it may very well trip over a single zone,6 line as well.  After all a
single zone line with noting to follow up is *not* what one may expect in a
well formatted nodelist.

Nonsence argument #2. If such rubbish exist, it is time to dump it.

Handles the situation? You may believe so, but that does not make it so...

Well I don't. I am having a deja vu here, so I won't go into it too deeply. Let
me just say that if you were to come to my net I would *not* "early list" you.
It is my NSHO that the nodelist should reflect the actual status of the network
as closely as possible. And listing a node that is not yet operational is not
reflecting the actual status of the network. So I would not "early list" you.
Or anyone else for that matter.

I would list you the minute you came on-line, but not before. If I were to be
away for some time and you were expected to come on-line during that time I
would be very willing to make arrangements to have you listed during my
absence. I can think of several ways how this could be taken care of. I would
be willing to do al that, but I would *not* "early list" you.
