Ice has been ice for millinium. It also was no longer ice when it melted.

Fortunately. you got that part right.

DP> Also, just to keep the discussion interesting, the Northwest Passage

That's good.

That's imagination for ya.

Mother nature says that's the way the cookie crumbles. "Only the strong
survive."

 DP> I'm assuming you don't understand evolution.

I'm assuming that you don't either.

DP> It doesn't happen in the course of a few years,

Like global warming does?

You under-estimate mother nature.

DP> But, I also don't see the need to "test" every species on Earth with
DP> whatever we can throw at them, just to see if they can survive or
DP> not. That doesn't seem like the best course of action if you don't
DP> want to be alone on the planet.

LOL! Like we've had anything to do with it.

 >> Sun warms up, Mercury and Venus experience global warming, earth

 >> Earth -> Mars - etc..

DP> So also Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto?

That would depend on how hot the sun gets...heat is only radiated so far
before the natural coldness of space cools it off. Did you ever notice
that after sun-down, the earth cools down?

DP> What about all of their moons, and other objects in the solar system
 DP> (asteroids, etc.)?

See above.

DP> There is sufficient evidence that their changes in temperature
DP> are attributable to nothing but solar intensity,

Not quite...internal heat keeps them warm.

DP> and to also explain away all temperature changes on Earth in the
 DP> process?

Proximity...earth is closer to the heat source, Mars and the rest are
further away. Tell us how you figure the sun is heating up the frozen moon
of Jupiter and not the one that is volcanic?

 >> Not as readily as the three planets that are heating up. Pluto
 >> receives sunlight, but it isn't in the inner circle of planets that
 >> are experiencing warming climates.

DP> But it should all be proportional.

Sure, if they were all within the heat range of the sun's radiation. Most
aren't.

DP> If the Sun's activity has increased by some percentage, then all
DP> bodies in the solar system should be able to show a proportional
DP> increase in temperature (or at least in their reception of the solar
 DP> radiation).

If you say so. Provide a source to prove that theory.

DP> That piece of the puzzle is absolutely criticial for determining
DP> whether or not Earth's temperature increases are caused by the Sun or
DP> by other factors. It's not impossible that increased activity by the
DP> Sun isn't responsible for *some* change on Earth, but that the effect
DP> is amplified by the levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Which, incidentally, aren't as bad as you think. Just wait until earth
provides more of it, as the ice melts. Instead of a global warming, we'll
have another ice age.
