We have seen already these combinations, but in any combination each voter had
a choice in both branches of govt. We dont necessarily have to vote in a
majority into the legislative branch in order to select the head of govt.

Ideally our govt works best when the President is of different party from the
majority in one or both houses of congress.

Clinton discovered the disadvantages of having a majority of his own party in
congress in his first two years, and the Current POTUS felt the wrath of the
people when he had 6 years of that.

Reagan and Bush I had no choice but to negotiate with the opposition party that
controlled congress.

The problem many here in the USA "might" have with the parliamentary style of
Govt is that in order to reject a parties leader you have to reject the entire
party in order to do it, just to keep that disliked person from becoming the
PM.

The problem might be that you might like a fair portion of the parties agenda
and stances, but you could end up tossing out the baby with the bath water just
to prevent one person from achieving a title.

Imagine if you liked most of the Conservative parties agenda in your last
election but you detested Harper so much so that the thought of him becoming PM
scared you, you would have to forsake that party in order to reject him.

Damned if you do, damned if you dont.

Sure this could force the party to choose a new leader, such shakeup happens
after a rejected party loses, yes?

IMO, your PM should be elected directly by the people, not the party.
