Some black bears can be colored as light as cinnamon brown...which fools a
lot of people into thinking they're really brown bears. They're of the
same black bear species, Ursus americanus, machetes.

You're forgetting the 'other' reindeer of NA, what we call Caribou. There
are probably more of them than Sveden has of it's version.

Caribou, are not small.

What we have, and what you have are White Tail deer. They're small because
they have less natural food to eat here. They're bigger where I grew up,
but that's because they have lot's of corn to eat.

Then we have the Mule deer, last here but not least of all, which grows to
be quite large. The one I harvested in Colorado back in 1976 was over 300
lbs on the hoof. According to the ranger who checked my tag and then his
teeth to determine his age, he was 9 years old and his diet in the area
where I was hunting was known as the Lima Bean capitol of the world. He
was big and well rounded. Found a .22 bullet in his rump when I butchered
him. Probably from some farmer who was growing the crop the deer was
eating.

My neighbor, who was also a hunter, took his small White Tail into the
same taxidermist I used and thought mine was an Elk, that is, before
giving it a close up once over. His tiny California White Tail was next to
mine when he went to pick his up.
