Who are you to say the layout was incorrect? It worked for us. ... Until the
powers that be in Z1 rammed P4 down our throut that is..

It is the fault of those that invoked the dictatorship of the majority to force
it on Z2 against their wishes.

Z2 voted against. But that was a small minority at the time.

I doubt that. The need for characters outside the ASCII range was never an
issue in Z1. ASCII serves all their needs. Another thing designed by Americans
for Americans without little or no concern for the needs of others btw.

Plus that at the time there were some vaild reasons for the ban. There were
terminals around that interpreted some codes with bit 8 set as control
characters and that could mess things up. US made terminals of course..

It made sense. At the time. For Z1...

A formal vote is not the only way to reach consensus. There is more than one
road that leads to Rome and who are you to tell us which one to choose?

And that is the third time you tell us what we should have done. And who says
we kept our head buried.

We adopted EP1, you rejected it. Those are the choices we made.

I have been the moderator of several high flow Dutch areas for many years and I
found it a useful tool.
