Wrong! They define each other by adding 'north' or 'south' to their
national identity. Before there were two identically named countries on
the penninsula, it was known as Korea and the country was also known
as Korea. Since the advent of two seperate nations, they are distinguished
by their country's name.

There isn't one. There are three distinct references, South America,
Central America and North America. No one refers to any person on these
continents so widely as to include them in a reference as Americans.

We? You have a mouse in your pocket? The peoples of Europe are known more
so by their nationality, not by the continent. Germany is on the Europeon
continent, but we call the people Germans, not Europeons. If you wish to
reference all people living on the continent, then you would use
Europeons. But that isn't specification for any citizenship.

South Africans, perhaps. People living in Egypt are known as Egyptions,
not Africans. Again, nationality, not continent.

Same old, same old. Chinese, Japanese, Polynesians. Not Asians.

But you'll be ignored or asked by others, to whom do you refer when you
say Americans when you're speaking in general? We thought you meant
Americans from America.

That's exactly the opposite of what you've already been told by others.
America has been the name referred to by many people of the world and
everyone knows of whom they speak. Not so in your case.
