Italy, and was trying to find his way back home.

Although it may be true that all my ancestors were from your side
of the Atlantic, only some were from the northern part of that side
of the Atlantic.  Others were from the southern part.

Nope.  Different family.  The original came from France.  Having
been made a Duke by the King of France, Sicily was given to him as
a gift.  The entire island.  As his direct descendant, that makes
me King of the Kingdom of Two Sicilies.  Capisce?

I have chianti.  You have none.  I am drunk.  You are not.

Europeans could not even keep the peace in their own back yard.
Just look at the mess in the former Yugoslavia.  Europeans chose
to do nothing, preferring to let the Croatians, Bosnians, Serbians,
Kosovans, etc. slug it out amongst themselves.  And when it was
all over, Kosovans erected a giant statue of Bill Clinton in
the town square.

Would you prefer all Europeans speaking German?  That is what
would have happened had the USA not intervened.

We have named our state Louisiana in honor of a French King and Queen.
Not the King who lost his head, but the Sun King.  And we have named our
great metropolis "New Orleans" rather than "Atlantis", even though most
of the city is, in fact, below sea level.  We also honor a great French
general by the name of Lafayette who came to our rescue.  Some say he
was George Washington's very best friend...
