And I'm not sure whether you aren't taking words a little too precisely.

At any rate, account-to-account funds transfers by one private person to
another private person's account are, to my personal knowledge, definitely
_not_ possible even when the accounts are at the same bank, much less when they
are at different banks. The only thing I've seen was the possibility of
transferring funds from your (neutral "you", i.e. some person's) account at one
bank to your account at another bank, and even that is cumbersome at the Fifth
Third Bank in Cincinnati.

Otherwise, you write checks - or you can have the bank write and send a check
with the "Bill Payment" option, which at least saves you the postage if the
bank offers that without extra charge (the Fifth Third does).

Them's the facts. If you have different experience, name the banks, best with
an URL, and I'll take a look at their "test" accounts. If you like, you can do

Note that when they talk about transferring funds from one account to another,
they say "your" account - they mean you personally as the account "owner", not
in the sense of "someone". And also note in bill paying that you have to
provide the address of the payee - that's where they send the check. They
require no account information for the payee, which would be necessary for a
direct account-to-account transfer.
