INdeed, Verizon, At&T, cOmcast, many of the big players.
NOte that SUpernews, Albasani and the big active free usenet servers are in
EUrope these days.  I use Albasani myself,
beats the snot outa google groups.

YEs, it was written up quite well in older issues of
FIdonews, I'd have to look, I'm thinking volume 11 but might be wrong about
that.  WAs just looking at some of those
articles the other day.  The fed with the blue nose was a
postal service cop.

THis is true, but there are times when I note usenet traffic is quite slow.  I
use two different sources of usenet, one
Albasani, the other a fido system that gates usenet.  POsts
from people that used to show up almost immediately after
they posted now seem to take a few hours.  THere will be
times my automation times out attempting its nntp connect
with albasani as well.
