Normal people refer to a torrent of a file and do _not_ mean merely the short
torrent file itself. You're too far away from the rank and file torrent users.

I wasn't referring to merely "bogus" files, i.e. files that claim to be
something, but are garbage or empty or corrupted. You weren't either with the
comment about viruses and malware. And I'd want to see something more than mere
claims that the media industry is sending out virus and malware. Not many
people would condone that publically even in the context of "fighting piracy".

Now, if you are changing your statement from "viruses and malware" to merely
"bogus" files as defined above, I think we could agree that a lot of those are
spread by the media industry.

Sure doesn't seem like that to me. The sites I see may be "moderated", but if
so, the "moderators" sure keep in the background. As for "ranking", I know the
theory, but the practice is that the only thing that is ranked is the
"activity" (seeders and leachers). Anything else is pot luck - may be useful or
not depending on the circumstances. Same for comments. Pirate Bay is good, but
most of the other sites have either no comments at all, or the comments are not
particularly useful ("Hey, how's the quali?").

As for all that being a guarantee of some kind that no viruses or malware are
present (in executables) - well, "lotsa luck".

Oh, one of these "hey, I'm an expert" games again... you should have said that
at the beginning, then I wouldn't have taken all the baloney so seriously.
