Ärende: Welcome to the 21st century in a supposedly civilized country
=====================================================================
Hi ROy,

On Tue 2039-Jan-11 23:42, Roy Witt (1:387/22) wrote to Richard Webb:

RW> YEah I know, that old phrase about time flies when you're having fun,
 RW> or not <grin>.

Roy> Well, a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then, but
Roy> we're still having fun. :o)

YEp that's for sure, we just pay more for it later, even if
it didn't involve mind altering substances. Even doing good "wholesome" fun
means I recuperate for two days afterword
<grin>.

<snippety doo dah>
Roy>> In those days, as well as today I suppose, weren't musicians into a
Roy>> lot of drugs? Jimmi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, etc...

RW> YEah, could tell some stories from those old days, at least
RW> those that I can remember.

Roy> The one I like to tell is when I went with a bunch of friends and
Roy> attended a Doors concert in San Diego. The building was foggy with
Roy> MJ smoke and it didn't matter if they played well or not, we were
Roy> all happy to be there.

YEp, can picture that. Try standing at the front of house
mix position in the middle of such an environment. NO need
to partake when one of the numerous left handed smokes was
handed your way, just pass it on. YOu were getting off on
the fumes <g>.

Roy> My girl friend at the time, worked for a body recruiter next door to
Roy> a small tavern on El Cajon Blvd, in SD. I'd go in there to wait for
Roy> her to get off work. Sometimes, enjoying a smoke at home first. A
Roy> friend of mine showed up and we went out back for anothe smoke.
Roy> Pretty soon I was high enough that I saw a (Alice in Wonderland)
Roy> Cheshire cat smile on their faces and the water in a Coors beer sign
Roy> was rapidly rolling over the rocks in a stream. (that sign was just
Roy> a picture and had no graphics)

YEp can believe that too. ONe I never experienced, but I
used to say it was good stuff if I went to walk two or three miles and couldn't
even feel my feet slapping the pavement
<grin>.

RW> Later, at least for me, the art when performing, or the craft when
RW> doing the technical side became more important, so I pulled back on
RW> the other activities a bunch. Lucky I did probably or I wouldn't
 RW> be here <grin>.

Roy> Same here.

YEp, we get older, and hopefully smarter.

RW>> As one who's made a large part of his livelihood among the people of
RW>> the night though when I wasn't involved in a steady relationship the
RW>> right tools were always ready to hand in case opportunity presented
 RW>> itself <grin>.

Roy>> In the 60s and 70s, I never liked wading with my boots on.

RW> Nor did I, but they were always handy in wallet, or at least in the
RW> suitcase. I lived a large part of those years in motels and hotels
 RW> obviously.

Roy> I was lucky enough where the glove compartment was close enough.

YEp, but in old blind man's case we were going her place, my place or the
nearest motel room, or wherever we could get
some privacy. That was the one complaint I had the most as
a young man about being a nondriver, no ready made place for such activities
<grin>.

Regards,
           Richard
