I can only agree. I was often in Florida when my folks lived there, and the
humidity was usually sky high even when it was relatively cool. Very oppressive
unless you happened to live directly on the ocean and had a sea breeze.

On the other hand, Illinois would be too far north for my taste - I don't like
snow and ice either.

If it were only the climate, California would be ideal. Unfortunately, you also
have the politics and the tax situation there. Perhaps the Oregon coast would
still be a good compromise?

;-) And people from outside often think Texas is always hot. In the north, on
the Oklahoma border, it's bone dry and blistering hot in summer (don't go out
between around 10 AM and 5 PM or you can get heat stroke), and freezing cold
with snow and ice in winter (-20C was no rarity) - normal "continental
climate". It gets milder and wetter as you move south towards the Gulf, though.
If you can pick your place of living, Texas offers nearly everything a person
could want - just have to move to the proper area. I still think it's the best
place in the world.

Even that far south? I thought the problems were mainly in the midwest.

Corner's pretty long, though. We had freezing rain Monday night, and the police
had to close a section of the Autobahn because not even the emergency vehicles
could get through - roads simply too slick. Lots of accidents, of course - just
lucky the weather warmed the ground during Tuesday morning and eliminated the
glare ice.
