Child labor in the automotive industry is used to stuff upholstery, grease
or oil machinery, push a broom, etc.. You name a menial labor task and
more than likely a child does it, in those countries mentioned above.

If you havn't seen how shoes are made these days, it takes some skill and
a small amount of training. The old stitch and nailing shoes together
by hand isn't done anymore.

Electronics takes a bit of skill to assemble and do it correctly. I've
seen many grown men attempt to assemble electronic kits and fail
miserably. Certainly not the job of an untrained child. Ask van der Vlist
if you don't believe that.

Agreed. Tractor under bellys (base frames) used to be cast that way.

Not in a third world (undeveloped) country. Even the more advanced places
like India still use sand molds.

As did I. I designed and managed the making of permanent molds and sand
insert molds in a brass foundry. We probably used your binder in the sand
inserts. The company chemical engineer, an American, spent over 30 years
at a brass foundry in Germany. He held a patent on a chemical additive to
make molten brass flow easier into parts of a mold that were/are hard to
get metal into. I learned a lot about the industry from that guy.

I don't think so. I've seen the difference first hand of our modern
technology vs third world methods as used in Mexico by a similar brass
foundry in Mexicali, MX. They made from scratch a water meter that is sold
world-wide. Their brass furnaces were vented to the atmosphere, their
machinery was WW2 vintage, but their product was a welcome exception to
what you could get from China. I was sent to that company to inspect it
for the foundry I worked for, who was a potential buyer at the time. I
thought their gear manufacturing facility to be worth the asking price all
by itself. For some reason known only to them, they didn't buy it.
