Compared to Mexico? Better check that again.

So? Better talk to the people at city hall in Datteln and other cities, which
are forced to house and feed "asylum seekers" (I already mentioned that at
present around 96% of the applications for political asylum are eventually
rejected, but that can take many years and even then there's no assurance of
deportation). This kind of thing costs the communities quite a lot of money
that otherwise could be saved (to reduce the defecits) or spent on local
projects. Or given back to the population in the form of lower taxes.

To the problem you also have in the Netherlands, but is more serious in Germany
as we are closer to the source. The Italians, Greeks and Poles are the ones
bearing the brunt of this, and the feeling among the "native populations"
(Dutch, German, Italian, Greek, Polish and the like) is increasingly turning
from sympathy to rejection: "This is _our_ country, after all".

Naturally, we're not talking about educated people with skills that are needed
in host countries - the kind of people who can also get an immigration visa for
the USA or Canada - but we _are_ talking about uneducated laborers from rural
villages who neither speak nor understand the local language (and in the case
of muslims in particular their womenfolk, who generally are kept isolated and
uneducated), and basically are not needed or wanted here - we have enough
uneducated problem cases ourselves without importing more.

The mistake Germany, and many other EU countries made, was to neglect to set up
immigration procedures like they have in the States and Canada, whose prime
focus is to attract people who will benefit the country. Instead, we try to
bear the problems of the entire world on our shoulders, with the result that
there is presently an increasing backlash by the "native populations", i.e.
Germans, Dutch, and in particular Danes. And believe me, it will continue and
intensify until the political powers-that-be finally realize that _no_
individual country, and not the EU either, is capable of healing all the wounds
and injustices of this world.

Bjorn calls that kind of thinking "Neonazi". I think he's just lucky enough to
live in a country far away from the main influx of "asylum seekers" and thus
can talk about things he doesn't really understand. If Sweden were on the
Turkish border, or on the Mediterranean coast a few miles from North Africa, he
would presumably change his mind very quickly.
