Eichmann was small potatoes compared with Hitler/binLaden. And there was no
terror organization around to try to force Eichmann's release by, say,
skyjacking a dozen planes.

You'll notice that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is still alive and kicking. He won't
be tried in the US because they'd have a hell of a time finding "neutral"
jurors (ones who haven't read or talked about 9/11), and naturally because of
security reasons (both people wanting to free him and others wanting to murder
him).

Remember the RAF in Germany? And the time they and the Palastinians got
together to hjack a plane to try to force the Germans to release the imprisoned
ringleaders? The result was the raid at Entebbe, which luckliy was successful.
But al Quaida thinks big, and I suspect anything similar would be a good deal
bloodier than the RAF attempt.

Better to keep the guy away from the civilian population.

These people really aren't comparable to Eichmann. If there had been a large,
powerful Nazi organization at the time of his trial, the cases might be
similar. But there wasn't and they're not.
