By the time the war started those people were no longer in Germany.
Some Jews emigrated to other countries, or made their way to Palestine
(as illegal immigrants).  Non-Jews also emigrated to other countries.
The problem was, no other country wanted the Jews.  Or mental cases,
etc.  And most countries of that time had very low immigration quotas.
Including the USA.  As such, even the physically and mentally fit had
a very difficult time emigrating to other countries.

What happened in Germany was "ethnic cleansing".  Before the war,
the unwanted were rounded up and driven out of the nicer areas, and
placed in public housing projects known as "ghettoes".  Later, once
Germany was able to expand its horizons by adding a few occupied
territories (such as Poland) to the Reich, they were put on a train
and driven out of Germany entirely, and placed in "work camps".

Some survived, others didn't.  Some were healthy, others were not.
Some were young, others were old.  How many of them were "murdered"?
Nobody knows.  And what classifies as a "murder"?  Is locking up a
criminal in prison a "murder" if that prisoner dies of old age or
of disease inside that prison?

Most everyday Germans knew nothing about what was going on.  Nor did
most everyday Germans care what was going on.  For them, life was good.
What happened to their Jewish neighbors?  Most everyday Germans assumed
they had emigrated to Palestine.  What happened to the disabled?  Most
everyday Germans assumed the Reich was taking care of all their needs,
including hospitalization.  What happened to the Roma/Gypsies?  Most
everyday Germans assumed the Reich had deported them, as they were
illegal aliens (undocumented workers).  What happened to the Communists?
Most everyday Germans assumed they were criminals, and either locked
up in prison or executed.

We have seen such action in modern times.  Serbia comes to mind.
Especially in regards to Kosovo.  Only it was Muslims, not Jews,
who were the victims.  According to Kosovans.
