I admit no such thing. I observe that those most in favour of draconian
moderation are the exact same people performing the actions THEY see as needing
moderation. I say they should moderate themselves if THEIR behaviour bothers
THEM.

JK> Why should ANY country who participates in Fidonet be badmouthed??

For exactly the same reason that some countries feel it necessary to overrun
others because they want their resources or don't like their political system.
People's political/cultural beliefs bleed through into real life too - not
everyone agrees on everything.

JK> That is one of the things that needs moderating here. Readers in this echo

Even when that country/culture is seen by so many as the "root of all evil"
today? Are you all so oppressed that you cannot utter disapproval?

JK> And THAT is the point of Fidonet, communication with others all over the

Which means you will meet people with views that oppose your own.

Maybe if the USAians didn't constantly give the impression that their
country/culture is the most wonderful in the world, others would be so inclined
to point out their error.

JK> Here's a post I made in the Fidogazette echo that maybe says it all:

And yet you let that government rule you country?

JK> I'm amazed more people don't rise up here when the insults start.

I didn't see anything in Policy about having to toady to the AntiChrist...

That attitude can still be seen today.

Australian and New Zealanders lost loved ones in USA's war in Vietnam too! They
didn't resort to such one eyed zealousness.

JK> If you even had a clue what those supporting the 1960's war machine

But is is certainly applicable to my comment that if one doesn't like this echo
seek what you look for elsewhere.

Does every echo have to conform to YOUR view of how it should be?

JK> From your statement, I gather you may support: 1) Bashing the country
 JK> where fellow SysOps live

Being a sysop is a technical condition not a political one. If people make
comments that I disagree with, I'm likely to tell them so.

JK> 2) Insulting SysOps of Fidonet

Fidonet Sysops have as much right to take offense as anyone else - why should
they be deprived?

JK> 3) A moderator and editor who does nothing to further the growth of
 JK> Fidonet.

I support Björn's method of moderation in this echo. As I stated earlier the
only person who can moderate one's action is the person themselves.
