well... the first thing is to use the proper terminology ;)  crashmail is one
thing... crash mail (note the space) is another... one is/was a software
program whereas the other is a flavor/flag of netmail ;) there are also direct
and immmediate flavors/flags...

  crash - go as soon as possible when an event allows
  immediate - go no, period!
  direct - go directly to the destination system

so, we have the following... crash goes when the active event allows and the
mail follows the system's routing rules... immediate goes right now regardless
of the event and followins the system's routing rules... direct ignore the
routing rules and goes directly to the destination system...

i wonder what happens for crash direct ;)

ummm... yeah... the above also depends on one's mailer... some of them have no
clue about direct mail flavors/flags... i am attempting to break this down a
bit because the BSO style uses the ?LO files... in recent times they have
recognized the immediate status (ILO files) but they cannot combine things to
have immediate direct and such... BSO mailers have to rely on the routing
capabilities of their mailtosser... dynamic mailers, on the other hand, handle
all the routing and transfers themselves... they can easily perform tasks like
this that BSO systems have troubles doing... especially when they have the
ability to rescan the raw netmail directory and build the outbound netmail
packets at any time whereas BSO systems have to physically unpack the bundles
and then repack them...
