Ärende: More Funny Bidness by Ice Queen

Hello Everybody,

Oh, this funny bidness in Fidoland can be addictive.
Especially when the Ice Queen is in charge.  This little
ditty was found in (you guessed it) the FN_SYSOP echo,
dated November 11, 2011 (Janis Kracht to Roy Witt) -

"... People have been echolosting echoes for others for
at least a decade that I know of.  I used to keep an echo
listed for a NZer because it was a hard thing to do for
an outsider." - ???

"It's not impossible to do, just not easy without the
other person's agreement, who would be involved in the
echolisting... especially I would think with an echo
which is well known as this one.  I've been taking care
of the BBBS.ENGLISH echo for Kim Heino for quite some
time, as well. .. but I was asked to do it."

Hmmm.  Lemme see if I got this right.
Roy Witt elisted an echo for an unidentified individual
from New Zealand (with or without his/her permission).

Janis Kracht elisted an echo for an individual she identifies,
who may or may not have given her permission to do so.

Shannon Talley elisted an echo for himself, even though
Shannon Talley was fully aware of who the moderator is.

Ross Cassell elisted the very same echo as Shannon Talley
did, even though Ross Cassell was fully aware of who the
moderator is.

And all the time, Janis Kracht was fully aware of what
both Shannon Talley and Ross Cassell did, and yet chose
to do nothing to protect the real moderator from having
his echo sabotaged.  In fact, Janis Kracht chose to
sabotage the very same echo herself.

Do you know which echo that is?  The FIDONEWS echo!

Björn Felten did not give anybody permission to elist
the FIDONEWS echo for himself.  Nor did Björn Felten give
anybody permission to elist the FIDONEWS echo for themselves.
Even though Björn Felten did in fact elist the FIDONEWS echo
for himself (although never required to do so).

But let us continue with more funny bidness by the Ice Queen -

"Not to mention the lame mentality of the echolist keeper,
who made it even harder for the unfamiliar to get and keep
their echoes listed." - ???

Let's be fair to Thom LaCosta.  I'll quote his very words -

"I send everything to Ross [Cassell]."

"I'm not sure what is so hard in the process to you."

Just send everything to Ross.  That's all one has to do.  :)

"One fills out an entry using certain keywords, and sends
it to the echolist robot."

I wonder who controls the "echolist robot"?

"One updates that every 6 months."

A moderator should never have to update an echo unless he/she
wishes to make some changes.  And besides, no echolist is or should
be necessary, as no private (or public) echolist has any official
status in Fidonet.

"IIRC, it's the same way it's been done since the Adrian
Walker handled the echolist."

Thom LaCosta and Adrian Walker are not the only individuals
who have posted an echolist.  There are others, including some
from Zone 3.  But alas, those echolists do not count.  And
neither should Thom LaCosta's echolist.
