I have the same Uverse router. I do prefer to use a dynamic address,
rather than pay the extra expense for the static address.

Like I said, you have to turn something off for them to do it. Otherwise,
I don't think they can change much without your cooperation.

Are you sure that this isn't coming from a scam artist? It looks to me
like someone is fishing for your account info. i.e. AT&T doesn't ask for
your username and password, unless you initiate the call to them.

I'd tag it as spam and forget about it.
