If that were true of the USA, we wouldn't have been able to be at the
forefront of the Pacific war until 1943 or 1944...instead were were able
to give it back to the Japanese within months and entered the war in North

And yet, the wiki page where it came from is highly regarded by others as;
Trustworthy, Objective, Complete and Well-written, voted 5 stars in each
category through a feedback vote...I'd trust it even over somebody who
would say they were there. Especially if it was Ward Dossche, who wasn't
there but would tell us that his father was and knows more about it than
anyone, which is another line of bullshit from THE most prolific
bullshitter extraordinaire.
