 BF>>>> What privacy? The "get me the hell out of any Patriot Act
 BF>>>> actions, violating my constitutional rights" privacy, or what?

 MvdV>>> Indeed, what privacy?

 RW>> The two of you should certainly be aware by now that the Patriot Act
 RW>> doesn't apply to you until you step off the transportation that
 RW>> would bring you to the USofA...

 MvdV> Not so when it concerns data about me.

Why just you? Are you a member of a terrorist group?

 MvdV> Not only has the USA taken the right to snoop into mt data when
 MvdV> they are stored on a US based server,

The USA? Do you mean the US federal government or some other agency?

 MvdV> they have also ruled that an US bases company must hand
 MvdV> over data stored on any of thee servers,

Which entity has done this?

 MvdV> even if that server is stored in Europe.

You don't specify where in Europe. Is it on a US military base?

 MvdV> Microsoft has already admitted that that can not comply with the
 MvdV> 'safe harbour" principle for their could services, even for EU
 MvdV> based servers.

Micro Soft is in compliance with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission)
US/EU 'Safe Harbor' agreement to which the FTC is the controlling body for
commerce in the US ... The FTC also controls the implementation of;

The Safe Harbor Requirements for US Companies.

The safe harbor framework, including how companies can participate and
certify their compliance, is set forth in detail on the Commerce and
the FTC websites.

To summarize, the agreement allows most US corporations to certify to
Commerce that the company has joined a self-regulatory organization that
adheres to the following seven Safe Harbor Principles or has implemented
its own privacy policies that conform with these principles.

A self-certifying organization must do the following:

 Notify individuals about the purposes for which information is
  collected and used;

 Give individuals the choice of whether their information can be
  disclosed to a third party;

 Ensure that if it transfers personal information to a third party,
  that the third party also provides the same level of privacy protection;

 Allow individuals access to their personal information;

 Take reasonable security precautions to protect collected data
  from loss, misuse or disclosure;

 Take reasonable steps to ensure the integrity of the data collected;

and

 Have in place an adequate enforcement mechanism.

Since the creation of the Safe Harbor Principles, Commerce has certified
over 300 companies as qualifying for the safe harbor. That figure includes
over 6% of the Fortune 500 companies.

 RW>> Plus it doesn't affect your Constitutional rights, because as
 RW>> non-USofA citizens, you don't have any here under our Constitution.

 MvdV> What about my constitutional rights under MY constitution?

As with the US Constitution, your rights do not extend beyond the borders
of your country, unless you're speaking of the EU Constitution, which I
not aware exists at this time.

 MvdV>>> The US has taken the right to review my banks account, to read
 MvdV>>> my e-mail, to track what web sites I visit, listen in on my
 MvdV>>> phone calls, etc, etc, without even telling me when they do.

 RW>> I thought you said that the USofA's long arm of the law doesn't
 RW>> reach into the dark corners of Europe.

 MvdV> I said thet they SHOULD NOT.

It cannot, without full cooperation from the Netherland's government.

 MvdV> Other than that: "dark corners of Europe" are your words, not mine.

Dark Corners refers to those places or things that are unlawful.

 MvdV>>> They totally disregard my wishes in this.

 RW>> Move to the USofA, become a citizen and you won't have that problem.

 MvdV> 30 years ago I would have accepted the invitation. I doubt they'll
 MvdV> have me now. But even if they would, now I say: "thanks but no
 MvdV> thanks.

Your choice.
