I didn't like the good old days of sitting by the telephone, having a
tether tied to me when I had to GO! If you know what I mean. With a cell
phone or even a cordless telephone, one can stand/sit on the throne, mute
it when it's time to flush and no one is the wiser.

RW>> RN> You send text messages on your landline?

 RW>> What landline?

RN> I should have known. Everybody is doing that, with me as a possible
RN> lone exception. I like being able to call Canada for free. I don't
RN> have that luxury on my cell phone.

Magic Jack only costs $20/year and calling Canada is free. So would a call
to Germany I suppose, if you make the arrangements before doing so. Like I
said; land lines are so yesterday. I have a portable telephone for that
use and today, you don't even need access to the internet to make those
calls. As it is now, I use MJ for forwarded phone calls to voice mail, in
case I'm busy doing something I need to do un-interupted by a phone call.

That's why I posed the question I did the other day in netmail. MJ can be
used to answer BBS calls, if you take the time to config it. I have two MJ
phone numbers, one of which could serve that purpose.

 RW>> This question is why I don't have a landline. 8^)

RN> I can figure that one out by myself.

RW>> RN> Funny stuff aside, I can talk a lot faster than I can type.

RW>> On a normal keyboard, I can type a lot faster than I can hunt and
RW>> peck on a keyboard that's less than the size of a cell phone and
RW>> then also have to choose whether or not I need to CAP a letter or
RW>> use the shift key to enter numbers and/or symbles.

RN> Been there, done that. It's a PITN.

Yeah, but unlike here, you can use cap letters to say something and most
of the folks know what they mean. Instead of PITN, we use PIA...

RW>> However, when everyone I know ('cept you) is busy at work during the
RW>> day, a text message with a simple question can be answered at
RW>> anytime that is convenient for the recipient. I especially don't
RW>> want to call them during working hours and interupt their day. Also
RW>> especially when phone calls during working hours are frowned upon if
RW>> not completely banned by an employer.

RN> Monday through (except Tuesday) Friday I do nothing and Saturday and
 RN> Sunday I rest.

Sounds like my dad. He used to say that since he retired, he didn't have
enough hours in the day. Which meant that instead of getting up at 5am to
go to work, he slept in until 8am. The rest of the day he spent sitting on
the porch watching people on their way to work go by or going down to a
rail-road crossing and VHS filming a train go by, no commenting, nothing
but train nose and his familiar cough heard in the recording.

RN> The only ones who text me are my SIL and two of my grandchildren.
RN> With the latter, I don't hear from them during the day because of
 RN> school.

Best part of that is you can text them at any time of day and they'll get
it when they turn on their cell phone.

RW>> RN> So, look at my picture.

RW>> It's on Facebook. If you delete the account, I won't be able to see
 RW>> it.

RN> I can always email you a copy or you could see it on google+. I
RN> really like the ones of Bob and his son Robin. (-:[

I think I downloaded a copy of yours when you put it up...

RW>> I entered an arguement with an idiot on Facebook. I didn't let him
RW>> drag me down, instead I educated him a little bit; meanwhile turning
RW>> him from being a complete 'smartass' into an 'a-hole' and eventually
RW>> a 'dumbass'... That took a shorter time than it takes to explain one
RW>> verse in P4 to an idiot like Lofaso...

 RN> I don't know why you bother.

They were attempting to bully my 17yo grandson. He's not a fighter because
of his size, so I verbally beat them up for him. They don't know I'm his
grandpa.

RW>> Been there too. Andrew comes over to watch TV because he's too cheap
RW>> to pay for cable or sattelite TV and can get very few choice
RW>> channels on his 'antenna'. One of which I gave him so he could have
RW>> more choices other than the one or two he could get with rabbit
RW>> ears. He's so involved in the programming, he isn't listening to
RW>> anything anyone else is saying, sometimes even during commercials.
RW>> Until I hit the 'Mute' button on the remote!

RN> I have a pet name for that. I call it "The Blessed Silence Key."
 RN> :-)

The FCC has ordered broadcasters to discontinue to raise the volume during
commercials. Forget when that's supposed to take affect, it will be in
2012. That will help a great deal to silence them to at least the same
level as regular programming.
