America is protected by three things ... water, Canada and Mexico.
 
The distance is too far to cross and when coming over land, one first needs to
invade Mexico and Canada ... that's too much. ;-)

Tha Balkan countries "are" the others ... they are welcome to join if and when
they bring their countries up to par with what they are planning to join. The
idea of the Union is that everybody contributes, not that a few contribute and
and the rest suck it dry.

Russia has decided to become isolated. The country emerged from total
bankruptcy after Communism because of the natural gas and some oil. The moment
western Europe has diversified its energy supply enough, the Russian economy
will collapse again ... and worse than how it did after the fall of the wall
because they export so little.
 
Centuries of Czars, 70 years of communists and now the new Czar have created a
very odd state of mind within the people.
