NB> No doubt. Then again, the Caddy (Spec-V) motor has a supercharger.

That's also what they use in the C6R, which they had to tune back 100hp so
that the Porches, etc., could run with them.

Longer than I've been alive... 8^)

Mine is an 02, standard cab, short bed...like the truck I had before it
(72 Cheyenne, SCLB), I love my truck.

After two scouting trips to Texas, I noted that there were a lot of short
bed pickups here and wanted a newer truck. When I got home, I had a hard
time locating a short bed, but finally found mine on a used car lot in San
Diego. It had 28k on the clock and was what I was looking for, so for $14
cash, it was mine. My 72 had 104k on it with a 700R overdrive trans in
place of the TH-350, but no one would pay anywhere near the $2500 asking
price, so I gave it away to Father Joe's charity. The tow truck driver who
came to pick it up liked her so much, he has it now.

NB> Something like that, I would buy new also. But any other everyday
NB> vehicle I usually go back 2-4 with about 20,000-40,000 miles on them.
 NB> It's a drastic price difference.

Considering that the price was right at $3120 on the Malibu, and I had
ordered it as an SS with the 350hp engine and a 4 speed, that car would be
worth quite a bit more today. The Camaro, not so much as it was a dealer
ordered 325hp, 396 that the Malibu could beat. It was a great driver
though...

NB> Something like the Malibu SS and Camaro would hold their value in

NB> beat the hell out of it before you. :)

I didn't beat the hell out of either one, although I did drag race the
Malibu the summer I bought it. I got pulled over once because the cop was
interested in the car (it was new). He looked it over, commented on a few
things that he liked and then let me go. In fact, my wife got more tickets
in that car than I did. When we moved to San Diego, I was baching it for a
while and some of the boys at work wanted to do some bar hopping. I was
the designated driver (so to speak) and the car had a habit of losing a
tail-light by coming loose and dropping out of the socket. We got pulled
over for that, which was merely an excuse for the cop to do so. He asked
me how much I had to drink in the bar we just came out of and I told him
that I was the DD, so he told me about the tail light, which I fixed on
the spot, telling him it was a habit that the car aquired. He let me go,
but wanted to know why we were in the bar, which turned out to be meeting
place for the homos (which is why we left). I wanted to dance with a cute
blond, but my friends talked me out of that when they pointed out the
'butch' she was seated with.

 >> Yeup. But Chevrolet brought some interesting cars to the Autoshow in
 >> Detroit this year. A model designated as R130 and S140...the 130 looks

 >> I liked the 130 because it actually looks like an American car with a
 >> notch back: reminds me of my old 65 Malibu...if they'd put it on the
 >> market today, I'd buy one tomorrow.

NB> Google came up with some results on those right away. Regarding the
NB> 140S, you're right. Definitely something the youngsters would like.
NB> If they would have come out with something like that 10 years ago, I
NB> might have jumped on it, but I, too have grown out of that stage. I
NB> keep my eyes on something I can't afford (like the Z06) so I don't
NB> end up doing something stupid otherwise. :)

Problem with that is, someday you will succomb to what the eye sees.

NB> You're definitely right about the 130R, though. It does look like a
NB> downsized Camaro. While still keeping the sleek lines and agressive
NB> stance. Not too shabby on the two new additions. Granted, these are
NB> concepts still, I take it? We'll see what they actually look like
NB> when they're released into the wild.

I've told them to release the 130 today and I'll buy one tomorrow...it's
supposed to get 40mpg, so I can use a grocery getter like that for my
daily business around town.
