When JFK was shot in Dallas, Texas the first thing I did
was walk into a closet and cry.

When the space shuttle Challenger exploded live on television
I watched in stunned amazement as their capsule fell in one piece
striking the water below.  I was too stunned to even cry.

When the WTC twin towers came tumbling down on 9-11, the first
thought that came to my mind was one of extreme sorrow, "All those
people..."  My next thought was of extreme anger and revenge.
I was ready for our fine president to come on the air and to tell
us that we are at war.  And I was ready to jump up and tell him,
"Go get 'em, George!  Kill the bastards who did this to us!"

Of course I should have realized that all the terrorists were
already dead, having been on the airplane.  But that didn't matter.

And then, three days later, when King George stood between those two
giant firemen at Ground Zero, he told Americans to "hug your children" and to
"go shopping".

That was when I knew this country was in big trouble.

Nah.  That's the devil.  But give the devil his due.  He does know
what he is doing.  Or she, especially when wearing blue jeans.

That's the thing.  Man needs two brains.  One upstairs,
and the other one downstairs.  Kind of like Steve Martin.

There are two main forms of terror in this world -

* Terror of the majority
* Terror of the minority

It is often said that the majority needs no protection
as it is the majority and can protect itself.  However, such
is not always the case, as shown in the example between the
Hutus and the Tutsis.

A well-armed minority can control a large majority, and is
often the case in dictatorships.  Syria is a case in point.
So was Iraq (especially under Saddam Hussein).

Some folks fail to understand that point.  In the Declaration of
Independence, Thomas Jefferson wrote about some inalienable rights
being "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness".  Some scholars
try to assert that Jefferson's "pursuit of happiness" phrase was in
reference to "property" rights, but are clearly mistaken given other
papers written by Jefferson himself.  "Pursuit of happiness" is a
phrase Jefferson used to describe religious freedom, whereas his
use of "property" rights being something an individual state/society
could define, more akin to ownership of land rather than anything
to do with religion.

Every square inch of this planet has been contested, and will continue
to be contested, since the beginning of time until the end of time.

My God gave me this land.  And you can't have it.  :)

That is basically the "rule" that sets the price.  The Jews claim
God gave them the land of Israel.  The Arabs claim their own God gave
them that land first.  The Arabs and the Jews have been at it with
each other for how long?

note - If you read the Bible, you will find the Arabs are right.
The Arabs were really there first.  :)

The guillotine would be preferable than giving an inmate the juice.
However, the mess left behind would be a bit to clean up...
