MvdV>>> I do. Do not forget that it is less than a one hour drive from
MvdV>>> my home to the German border. I am within range of German TV
MvdV>>> and German newspapers can be bought in the book shops.

RW>> I'm aware of that, but I'm also aware that these articles appear in
RW>> many more places than one newsletter written for the English reader.

MvdV> The odd thing is that *I* do not see it...

Here's one that some of you say doesn't ever happen in Europe.

Did you miss this one too?

"Handgun ties French school shooting to attacks on soldiers"

"A shooting near a Jewish school in Toulouse has left four people dead,
with three children among the victims. Police say the same gun was used in
two deadly shootings last week."

or this one:

"Radical Salafists on the rise in Germany"

"While right-wing terrorism is currently the focus of attention in
Germany, the threat posed by religiously motivated extremism remains.
Radical Salafists are considered especially dangerous."

You know that 'right-wing' terrorism means the same as neo-nazi. Right?

RW>>>> it isn't Americans who're writing about that hangup.

MvdV>>> They may be the addressed audience though..

RW>> Or they could be addressed to the Brit readers,

MvdV> I can't rule it out, but there is little or no indication that it
MvdV> is. WWII se;ldom surfaces in any of the forums that I visit, EXCEPT
MvdV> those where Americans are present. From my prespective it IS linked
 MvdV> to Americans.

And from mine it is merely news that would more than likely interest
Europeans. Hell, DW doesn't even respond to input by Americans. I know,
since I've attempted to correct mistakes that are completely made up by
the writers when they reference America(ns).

RW>> who are just as aware as anyone. Even moreso, considering that they
RW>> were alone in the fight after the Poles and French moved government
 RW>> and royalty to England.

MvdV> French royalty? There hesn't been any in over 200 years...

You know what I meant. Dutch Royalty fled to England during the invasion
of your country. The French moron head of state; who claimed victory of
his own after the Allies defeated Germany and we sent him home, was the
character representing France.

MvdV>>> Then maybe the English version is different from the German
MvdV>>> version. Maybe that one is tuned to the demand of the US people
MvdV>>> who seem to be interested in these items.

RW>> I don't think we're anymore interested than the next guy. I'm not,

MvdV> You as an individual may not, but I can't help noticing that only
MvdV> in the presence of Americans does the subject of WWII come up
 MvdV> regularly.

The subject of WW2 is still discussed in German news media...They compare
present events to past events all the time.

RW>> but I'm aware of such things, since all y'all avoid it like the
 RW>> plague.

MvdV> Avoid it? Not any more than I avoid prostitution or drugs.

I recall when you've stated here many times that you don't like it to pop
it's little head up.

MvdV> I am sure that both can be had in this little village, after alll
MvdV> it is everywhere, and I would no doubt find it if I started looking
MvdV> hard enough. But I am not looking...

When they printed the local police blotter on a daily basis in the local
rag, I noticed that drugs and prostitution were prevelant in this town as
well. Yet, I don't see any evidence of it on the streets when I go out.
Neither am I looking for it.

MvdV>>> Also, not only do I watch German TV, I go visit their
MvdV>>> occasionally. When we do, we often visit flea markets and I see
MvdV>>> no more WWII related stuff than I see on Dutch flea markets.

RW>> There can only be so much of it to go around, especially after 70
RW>> years has passed. The good stuff goes into an estate and privately
RW>> held or an estate sale is held after that person's death, which-ever
RW>> gets rid of it the fastest.

MvdV> No doubt true for the old stuff, but when people are truly
MvdV> interested in a subject, there is new stuff as well, such as
MvdV> magazines. I don't see muchof that either.

The only time I see anything of that nature is when I'm looking for books
to read. If one with the words or title include NAZI and you take a look
at it, AMAZON.COM is guilty of this: They present you with a couple of
dozen just like it to look at with a statement that goes something like
this: Those who bought this book, also bought these. And they give you a
dozen more samples on the same subject. They must be keeping a record,
since I got the same samples when I logged onto Amazon with my Kindle
Fire.

RW>>>> and the Neo-Nazi problems they're having in Germany

MvdV>>> Now you are widening the subject. Neo-Nazi problems is a
MvdV>>> totally different issue than WWII.

RW>> Yeup, but past history and present history of that movement are
 RW>> nearly identical,

MvdV> That goes for a of of things, it does not make it the same.

What didn't work for the first obviously won't work for the present, since
times have changed the way laws are enforced. Especially in the case of
neo-nazi movements.

RW>>>> almost on a daily basis.

MvdV>>> So you are looking for it....

RW>> Nope. I'm interested in how Europe is going to get out of the
RW>> economic mess that it's in,

MvdV> I wonder why you are so interested in that. The financial crisis
MvdV> started in the US and the US is still in deeper shit than Europe.

Dunno where you got that idea. Those seeking work are finding it here,
those who're no longer seeking work can find it if they look again.

Unemployment is down from just a few months ago, while the stock market is
on the rise again. The only thing wrong today is that the moron sitting
in the WH has caused fuel prices to sore 109% since he took office in 09.

MvdV> Shouldn't you worry about your own turf first?

Your (EU) part of the world has to grow it's economy for us to grow ours.
This is an even smaller world than it was last year.
