You should read some Dutch papers...

Another factor is that they don't HAVE to venture into international echos to
have some meaningful participation. The Dutch and the Scandinavians with their
handful of active participants are way beyond critical mass. There is just ONE
remaining Dutch echomail area left and there are not enough participants to
keep it going by itself. The only reason R28 still exists is because we can
cross borders and venture into international areas.

But the Germans do not have that problem. Not yet. There is still enough to do
in the German areas. The Germans do not HAVE to come here to keep Fidonet R24
going.

Which ones? I /would/ stick to echos closer to home if there was anything
worthwile left. I feel much more comfortable and my abiltyt to express myself
is on a much higher level when I can do it in my own language.

But there are not enough Dutch speakers left to keep the conversation
interesting...
