One does not need to have a mailer on-line that can recieve incoming calls in
order to connect to an echo. Points connect to echos.

"Called me to get his mail". Calling to get mail is runnning a mailer in client
mode. Points call their boss node(s) with a mailer in client mode to pick up
mail. Nodes have a mailer in server modes to accept incoming calls and have
mail delivered to them.

I don't believe you. If he had a mailer on-line to accept incoming calls, it
would have accepted the calls from those in Z2 attempting to connect. But they
all got someone answering in voice. There was no mailer on-line to accept
incoming calls. If there was a mailer, it ran in client only mode.

Points can link into an echo.

There was no mailer on-line to accept incoming calls. What is wrong with your
brain that you can not fathom the concept of accepting incoming calls and that
the ability to accept incoming calls is a requirement for Fidonet node status?

Fidonet was designed as a peer to peer network. The aim certainly was that
every node could connect to every other node. That 100% interconnectivity was
never obtained due to technical incompatibilities, does not alter the fact that
that was the aim.

That you guys in Z1 have degraded Fidonet to a client/server network where only
a limited number of nodes accept incoming calls from everyone, is a Z1 thing.
It is your limited interpretation to justify nodelist stuffing by accepting
systems as node that have the reacheability of a point and therefore should BE
points. Plus that it forces people to route mail and have it exposed to in
transient interception. Control....

Listing systems that only have the reacheability of a point, as fully flegged
nodes, was never considered acceptable in the rest of the world.
And certainly not for *C systems.
