Wow!  Ronald Reagan supporting Osama bin Laden, al-Qaeda, and
the Taliban by providing them with arms and ammunition!  And look
at the thanks we got in return!

Without our help, Osama bin Laden and his merry band of terrorists
would not have been able to survive the Russian onslaught.  Face it,
Roy.  Ronald Reagan (that old favorite of yours), *made* Osama bin
Laden!  Unfortunately, the cruise missiles Bill Clinton sent ObL's
way missed him by _that_ much.

The Russians had no difficulty conquering Afghanistan.  Neither did
the British (who did it twice).  But just as Americans are finding out,
the Russians (and British) found it impossible to subjugate the Afghan
people.

Had it not been for Joe Stalin and Mother Russia taking out the Nazis

Then why are we in Afghanistan?  Why are we in Iraq?

Afghanistan has never been a true democracy, and is not a democracy
today.  The present government of Afghanistan is an authoritarian
regime, with little semblence to any form of democracy.

The present government of Iraq is a hybrid regime, hardly resembling
anything that anybody would call a working democracy.

Even though its land was conquered, the South was never subjugated.
Even though its land was conquered, Aghanistan was never subjugated.
Winning the hearts and minds of a people can never be done with guns,
or through military force.

GWB is still in Texas.  Although it is remotely possible that Cheney
may be at a secure and undisclosed location in Canada, I find it highly
doubtful.  More likely he is down in his cellar writing his memoirs.

Freance, Germany and Russia tried to warn us, telling us what a bad
idea it was to invade Iraq.  But did we listen?  Nooooo.

Pakistan provided not only Iraq with the know-how to build such weapons,
but also Iran and North Korea.  Not that Iraq ever had such weapons, or
any real capability to build them.  But Pakistan is our friend.
