Ärende: The Thai Misery

All this is just what I expected from the beginning so that's why I said that
it's difficult to do this in writing.
For you everything is either black or white but I can assure you that it isn't
so in Thailand. What's Ok today isn't always Ok tomorrow as we are used to
and to understand some of it you have to live there and talk to the natives,
trying to understand how they think and I can assure you that that isn't always
easy.
The sitting government isn't any better than Thaksin, they guy the redskirts
wants back and then there is the King, sitting between all of this. A king that
is very sick and his son that is to take over after him isn't really liked by
the
people because of his affairs with (at least) 5 different girls where one is
almost
a prostitute and I think he has a baby with everyone.
Thaksin did a lot of good for the poor people in the North while he filled his
own
wallet with hundereds of millions of $ and there were a trial about this this
winter
where the sitting gov. took back about 40% of his assets and that didn't the
redskirts like so you see that the situation isn't ideal.
Then the rice-farmers in the north did get more money for the rice under
Thaksin
but then the world ecomomy went down and they didn't get that much any more
so they blaimed the sitting gov. but the tourists did still come to the south
so
they didn't notice any difference so many from the north went south to live on
the
tourists but that wasn't as easy as they had thought so they had to go back.
Living under such circumstances isn't what we are used to so how can we really
understand what it's like? Plague or cholera? We have a social security to fall
back on but nothing of that exists in countries like Thailand. They live on
what they
manage to get in on a daily basis and that's all.
I could go on for hours but what's the use. You would never understand as long
as
you haven't seen it for yourself and I've seen how they treat people coming
from
Burma. They have it worse than our pigs.
