Hello Everybody,

The Affordable Care Act is sometimes referred to as "Obamacare" -
especially among right-wing fanatics who hate our president simply
because he is a black man.

What is Obamacare?  In a nutshell, Obamacare is a federal program
that is administered by the states that guarantees (nearly) every
American access to affordable health care insurance from private
(not public) health insurance companies.  IOW, subsidized health
care insurance.  And private health care insurance companies love
it.  Along with more and more Americans, as they are beginning to
realize the benefits of Obamacare.

It is important to keep in mind what Obamacare is NOT -

* Obamacare is NOT socialized medicine.  If you want to know what
socialized medicine is, look at Great Britain's system.  Britons
have socialized medicine.  Totally different from what Americans
have, or will have, under Obamacare.  The American system is NOT
Uncle Sam doing your prostate exam -- regardless of what the
Koch brothers-funded commercials say or claim.

* Obamacare is NOT public health care insurance like Medicare.
Whatever insurance an individual decides to purchase through the
exchanges (set up by either the states or by the federal governent)
will come from PRIVATE health care insurance companies (such as
Blue Cross, Aetna, Humana, or one of many other companies that
offer health coverage).

This is not the part of some kind of trickery or deceipt, or even
on the part of the Democrats.  The Republicans (all of them bowing
to the wishes of the Tea Party) opted outof any meaningful role in
debating or drafting the legislation.  All they were interested in
was obstructing whatever President Obama and the Democrats wanted
to do.

The best that Republicans could do was come up with 44 votes to
repeal Obamacare.  They have tried at least 40 times to repeal
Obamacare, without success.  And then they went and shut down
the government because one mad Canadian from Texas decided that
would be a fun thing for Republicans to do.

Ted Cruz eat your heart out.  Repealing Obamacare is not going
to happen.  It is the law of the land, passed by both houses of
Congress, signed into law by the President, and upheld by the
US Supreme Court.

The American people love a good thing when they find it.  And
Americans are beginning to find how much of a good thing Obamacare
is for them.  For example, the latest polls are showing this very
thing, the numbers rising from 41% in favor of Obamacare last month
to the present 46% in favor of Obamacare.  Those numbers in support
of Obamacare will continue to rise, as more and more of those 50
million Americans who are presently uninsured Americans become
insured.

Of course, Republicans would love to take access to affordable
health insurance coverage away from them (average Americans).
However, what Republicans tend to forget is this -

Once something is given away, you can't take it back.

Thanks to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Americans got social security.
Thanks to Lyndon Baines Johnson, Americans got Medicare and Medicaid.
Thanks to Barack Hussein Obama, Americans got access to affordable
health care.

In my not so humble opinion, the GOP (and the Tea Party) hates
Obamacare because they cannot stand the thought of the Democrats
(and a black president) getting credit for another social program
that saves lives.

One Republican politician was so disgusted about Obamacare that
he actually told his colleagues that people should "Die quickly!"
That was his alternative to Obamacare.  The CDC seems to back
him up with the numbers.  For example, in 2009, the Harvard School
of Medicine and the CDC conducted a study, reviewing thousands
of health care records in order to determine cause of death.
And what did they find?  Over 45,000 Americans had died that
year simply because they did not have health insurance.  They
had treatable diseases that health insurance would have paid
for - but they couldn't afford it so they died.

So there you have it.  The Republican alternative to Obamacare.
"Die quickly!"
