Actually, in a number of areas Björn is right by stating that.
 
The best example I can think of is the continued downgrading of our school
systems which used to be of the highest academic levels and now pride
themselves that at the end of the track they can deliver a whole lot of kids
that know very little with very few skills but who feel good about themselves.
It's a trend which I noticed in the mid-70-ies when I lectured at US
high-schools, the same is now happening here. We are creating a generation of
idiots that don't know anything and have a pill for everything.

You are right there, of course. In Dutch there is a saying which goes like "If
the smokestack isn't smoking, the company isn't making money".
 
I'd like to comment on InBev though. It is impossible for a non-US company to
aquire a 50%+1 stake in any US based company. So what the deal is concerning
Anhauser Bush I don't know exactly, maybe there are different holding companies
involved. Such a trend became obvious around 1990 somewhere when Northwest
Airlines was going broke for the first time and couldn't even get Chapter-11.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines bought a majority of the shares, injected cash,
restructured, had modern Airbus-planes bought and revived the company from the
dead. When Northwest became viable again, only then did US authorities say "You
can't do that" and a pile of shares had to be turned-over to American investors
who previously had frowned upon the prospect. KLM's attempt of gaining
market-share in North America was thwarted, but it evolved into the first
global alliance.

Hey, why the insults again? Janis and I are campaigning against that
vocabulary, Scott has joined the effort ... there's no need for that behaviour.
