Texas law protects the unborn, even when the mother is brain-dead. The
only problem was with the Hospital, which refused to remove her from
life-support because it is against that law to kill an unborn fetus. The
only recourse is for the case to be heard in court, where the hospital
was taken off the hook and the plug pulled to end the mother's life.

As the hospital doctors and lawyers explained in court papers, they
followed the law and when it was determined that the fetus was no longer
viable with what it called; "hydrocephalus - an abnormal accumulation of
fluid in the cavities of the brain - as well as a possible heart problem,
and the lower extremities were deformed." they were happy to follow the
court order to end it.

BTW the court order to take her off life-support satisfies the law too.

But all this is, is another way for gov't to interfere in the lives of the
people.
