That may be your opinion and as such deserves respect. However, let me forward
2 thoughts:
 
* First of all it is remarkable that the pro-lifers under any circumstance
  will force their viewpoint down one's throat. They will run picket lines,
  they will do whatever they can to force girls and women "in a terrible need
  of not being pregnant" to go through the ordeal and in the process possibly
  destroying their lives.
 
  Your problem, Ross, is that you can screw and fuck as much as you want, but
  "you" will never get pregnant, "you" will never be faced with the dillemas
  that pregnant girls/women are faced with.
 
  I regard refusing the opportunity to choose for an abortion, a serious
  infringement of the right of a woman "to decide" and forcing your point of
  view, which I will still respect, down their throats is the same thing as
  muslim men forcing their woman to wear burkahs or nicabs while they them-
  selves can wear a flowery T-shirt and shorts on a hot day.
 
  Refusing the opportunity for a woman to decide herself is just another way
  of denying rights and forcing male suppremacy. As long as that is the case,
  there will never be any gender-equality.
 
* Pro-abortion people will not stand in picket-lines before clinics and
  hospitals, without being challenged, forcing an abortion down the throat of
  any pregnant woman/girl walking the street.
 
  They just want to have the choice available.
 
I'm not certain how often, if ever, you have been confronted with an abortion.
I never have and I'm glad for that, a daughter of mine had an unplanned baby
(which she actually shouldn't have had), but she had it anyway and with my
wife's and mine assistance is now raising the most adorable granddaughter, so
don't categorize me.
 
Deciding for an abortion is not an easy thing, nearly always it involves
serious psychological consequences and leaves the woman emotionally scarred for
life. The guy just wipes his dick and that's the end of it... for him.
 
You make it sound as if meat-trucks are leaving the hospitals daily with a load
of fetuses to be discarded. Reality is different ... abortions are the
exception rather than the rule.
 
You accuse Janis of considering an abortion as a kind of contraception. As a
woman and a mother and a grandmother she probably feels offended by such a
statement. It is not that a female can have an abortion, walk out of the clinic
whistling and fornicate that same evening ... the body is scarred internally
and is wounded ... there has been a hemmorage and "no sex for the next 6
months" is usually prescribed. Having an abortion is not like unloading a cargo
from a truck and then return to the point of origin to get some more. An
abortion is a painful procedure.
 
When a woman/girl comes into an abortion clinic for a second time, then staff
will start working with her to provide other options. Please realize, which is
something totally different than "knowing about", that there are categories of
women that cannot afford the $800-$1000 or so that will be charged in the US
for an IUD for example. I've spent too much time on the Blackfeet reservation
in Montana and the most common ways of providing an income are alcohol, drugs
and prostitution ... a friend of mine working in the hospital in Browning MT
abandoned his medical degree working for the BIA because he couldn't handle the
medical situation of a lot of the females there forced into prostitution but
not able to afford contraception.
 
The same happens in very large, and maybe not so large, big cities and their
minorities.
 
I've got another daughter who works as a delivery nurse, I've now heard enough
things that can happen to a woman that is not common knowledge. For you there
seem to be only two states "pregnant" or "non-pregnant" while there is so much
more.
 
When my kid gets home and she's silent again, I know there has been something
again. Like the other day a young mother delivering prematurely "something"
that should have been aborted in an early stage as it was diagnosed but "No, I
will go full term, I do not kill babies". We're talking here "something" that
maybe has the size of a handpalm, is already fully formed, has fingers and toes
and you can see the gender. But it is in terrible pain, my daughter explained
you can see the agony on the face of such "a baby" while there's life in it and
it tries to breathe yet it is being abandoned by life. It is suffering. And
then they need to administer pain-killers to make the baby manageable, they
have techniques of holding it and caressing/massaging it so it will be
comfortable for the duration of its life which will be a whole 20 minutes at
best. And then it dies in your arms...
 
Have you ever had a 20-minute old deformed prematurely born baby in your arms,
which should have been aborted 10 weeks earlier, which they had to drug for the
pain and have it die in your arms? Well, let me tell you, when I get the
stories here every week of things that happen I need to focuss on something
else and look elsewhere because my 63yrs of life experience does not provide me
with the tools to deal with this.
 
Life must be so easy for people like you, and Roy Witt and this Tim Richardson
fellah who have all the answers readily available at the snap of a finger.
