    Helpful Information about FILE ID.DIZ

    A FILE_ID.DIZ file is an ascii text file which may be included
    in an archive.  This human readable file allows an author or
    distributor to describe the contents of the archive.

    Most bbs systems adopt the description of the archive from the
    archive's FILE_ID.DIZ file, so it is important to format this
    file correctly.

    1.    The description contained in FILE_ID.DIZ should be limited to
          10 lines in length, with a width of 45 characters per line.

    2.    No extended, unprintable, or "High-ASCII" characters should
          be used in your description.

    3.    The description should contain no blank lines.

    4.    The best descriptions for a file will not include words
          like "powerful", etc..

    5.    For mult-part archives, the description may include
          notation denoting which part of the archive you see listed
          on the bbs, such as 1:4 (meaning this is part 1 if four
          total parts).


    The Format:

    Here's an example of the layout of a file_id.diz, 45 chars
    across, 10 lines in length;

    And here is an example of a file_id.diz:
