I think highly trained Navy aircraft mechanics have been replaced with
grunt Marine Corp helicopter mechanics at Miramar in SD. Here, there isn't
much activity at either Air Force bases...Lots of rehab going on at the
Army hospital though.

The only people I see employed at WalMart that might make more are the
technicians in the garage area. But what training do you need to loosen a
pan and drain the oil, replace the filter and refill the crankcase again?
I was doing that at 13yo...

I know. The one time I got caught up in a strike, there was a $50/wk
union payment, IF you walked the picket line. I chose to find another job
instead.
