Pretty sure they di something about it back then.

Military sats concentrate their efforts on specific areas, and not for tracking
aircraft

Radar did.  The ONE sat that heard a ping, only allowed them the sort of guess
what path it was one, and not where it was at the time.  That BTW, was not a
military Sat, but rather a sattelite specifically for that purpose.

The Military radar did see it apparently after the ID was shut off, but they
were of course not certain if it was indeed that same aircraft, and should have
checked.

What good is it having a phone if it is not turned on?  I have a GPS as well
that I use in the car, but nothing would stop me from using it to walk around
with
