    I strongly doubt about it. I read that the planes of such a level 
have several internal electrical generators -- the plane must have power 
to switch on its engines, to feed illumination, computers, communication 
etc. Of course, the plane must do all this while its engines are turned off.

    A hydraulic system does not demand many power - its heart is a small 
electrical pump. So, the plane gliding can be controlled -- the plane is 
maintained in a stable horizontal position with its nose slightly up. 
You don't need much power to do such a thing.

The plane speed will be maintained by the descending process.

Your theory is based based that all system of the plane are powered by 
the plane engines. It cannot be true that the plane hydraulic system 
depends on engines fully. Bollocks, indeed. The plane must be 
controllable _even when engines fail_. It is the matter of safety.

BTW, the plane aerodynamics is made in such a way that the plane is 
stable in air by itself unless it loses a wing or tale.

Without engines the plane descends and this process maintains speed.

    The plane never loses its speed completely. It glides down like a 
Space Shuttle from orbit. The task of auto-pilot is simple -- to 
maintain speed and orientation as much as it can. For instance, the 
auto-pilot sees that the plane descends, so it raises the plane nose to 
the possible maximum, keeping the balance. In such a way the plain 
descends. The descending (gliding) speed is not very high.

Modern auto-pilot are very clever. Now they can land the planes themselves.
