=================================
On 04-29-14, WARD DOSSCHE said to TIM RICHARDSON:

WD>Tim,

TR> Here's another one! Much of the East Coast is supposed to already be
TR> `under
TR> water' due to `global warming' morphed into `climate change' morphed into
TR> `climate catastrophe'!

WD>Hmmm ... last January I was in New York City visiting among other thing
WD>the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Someone who's never been there, I
WD>need to advise visiting Ellis Island, one of the better museums worldwide
WD>telling the story of immigrants. At times haunting even. I've been there
WD>at least 6-7 times now.

WD>However, Januay was a bummer. Both locations were only available on a
WD>limited basis as a ressult of the hurricane Sandy destructive power and
WD>the 14' (that is fourteen feet) waves that rolled over both islands. It
WD>destroyed all heating for winter, all airconditioning for summer, all the
WD>foodstocks, all the souvernir stocks, all the electronics and computers up
WD>to a regular second floor, all private property of staff was destroyed,
WD>lockers with whatever, etc, etc...

Big deal! It is known that such super storms hit that coast regularly,

WD>Such stormsurges of that magnitude in that area have never been recorded.

Thats only because modern-day MAN hasn't been `recording' such storms until
only the recent past (last one hundred twenty years or so).

And there have been far worse storms along that coast. There have been
recorded hurricanes along that coast since back when the Mayflower and other
ships landed in that area.

In fact, back in 1502 a storm hit down in the southern seas and Puarto Rica
area, which eventually moved up the coast to the NY area, which Christopher
Columbus warned some Spanish governor about. It sank over twenty Spanish
ships.

There was a hurricane in 1635 that struck New England around 15 years after
the landing at Plymouth Rock. It was a devastating storm.

There have been hurricanes of varying strength along that coast since the days
of the first colonists.

The hurricane of 1749 generated a tidal wave of 15 feet, as recorded by those
who lived through it. In fact, that storm is now considered to have been a
`category 4' hurricane. It created a land area called Willoughby Spit in
Chesapeake Bay.

WD>It's a common fact that storms are getting bigger and bigger.

No...it isn't! Thats `Algore' stuff of which huge expenditures of taxpayers
money to finance careers of those who `pretend' such stuff is true, is made
of.

WD>I think there is some truth in your words about the rising of sealevels
WD>which may be exagerated, although the changing weatherpatterns at the
WD>dramatic levels which we are witnessing now, cannot be ignored.

The weather is what its always been; unpredictable.

TR> There aren't supposed to be Polar Bears anymore, either. `Drowned' due to
TR> there being `no ice' in the Arctic!

WD>Polar bears can perfectly live without ice, however they are part of an
WD>ecosystem that is ice-based including seals, arctic foxes, whales,
WD>porpoises, gannets, fulmar, and so many more.

So were bears, and panthers, not to mention wild hogs, that were at one time
prevalent all along the Eastern Seaboard of the United States.

There haven't been any panthers or wild hogs in that area of the US in about
100 years or so.

And the last time I ever heard of there being bears in the wilderness regions
of New York State was when I was a young boy back in the early to mid 1950's
in the Eastern Berkshire Mountains. I saw one a hunter had shot during hunting
season in 1952 or `53, when I was just a teenager.

By the way...I live in Southern California in San Diego county.

And...it is always surprising to people who come here who are in-experienced
with living in an area of this sort...but this is LION country here! Yes...I
typed `LION'!

Its true! About 15 or so miles east from where I now reside, you step into the
Cuyamaca forest, and you're in LION country!

And its not a joke! True...the lions of which I speak are nowhere near the
size and weight of the African lion variety...but they ARE lions none the
less! And they are every bit as dangerous as their African cousins.

Every year out here, anywhere from three to five peple have dangerous
encounters with the lions that inhabit the forest areas of the state. And
`fatal' encounters are not that uncommon.

WD>There's no saying what will
WD>happen when such an ecosystem is destroyed, but one thing is certain: it
WD>will not be nice.

Well...we COULD be living with dynosaurs roaming all over the place! I'm real
glad we don't see any of them anymore. The Earth changes by itself over long
periods of time. Weather patterns are driven by Solar activity, which has
nothing whatever to do with anything MAN `has' done...`is' doing, or `will' do
in future years.

WD>Polar bears have been known to mate already with grizzlies producing
WD>rather big hybrid bears called Grolars. In the beginning it was considered
WD>unlikely but too many have been shot in the meantime up north. It means
WD>that polar bears have started to migrate south.

So what? Horses mate with some equines and produce `mules'. That doesn't
`doom' all of Mankind!

And these hybrid bears will be dealt with in the same way other marauding
bears have been dealt with in the past; a well-placed .300 Savage, or a high-
powered round from a German Mauser. Problem solved!

WD>Now you can react in a typical brainless way like "Nothing a gun can't
WD>take care of", but that is not the point. Climates "are" changing, weather
WD>patterns "are" changing.

WD>You may be in denial, but that's not my problem.

Nothing to `deny', except my tax dollars flowing to support years-long careers
and retirements of those who make a living off of `the sky is falling' scares
that AlGore types make fortunes off of!
