Wow, don't you love how when you miss a bunch of messages because the BBS
software throws things in the wrong place, or looses messages, etc. then you
come back and it's like you step outside your front door and realize some
how your house was teleported to smack dab on the Mason Dixon Line of the
Cival War, and apparently someone painted Gay Biggot across the outside of
your house on the side facing the north! I don't like to follow up on
politics in Fidonet. It tends to raise the blood pressure too much. But,
if dragged into it, there is a bit of inconsistencies that can be found all
over the net! It's not just Region 19, it's every region. I don't say
anything about it, because I don't like stepping on toes.

For what it's worth, I have no issues with Marc, he's a good guy, seems to
do his job, and perhaps go beyond doing his job some times. If you have
issues with your mailer, he's willing to help you out, get you going, etc.
kinda like most Net Coordinators should. When I re-joined fidonet several
years back, I talked with one NC, I can't remember if it was Robert Starr,
or whoever it was... They had no problem putting me in the net, but said I
had to talk to the RC at the time. I forget who that was. I don't think it
was Marc, though. Any way, he mentioned that they liked to keep folks in
their geographical region... O.k. Cool, not a problem. Marc was in New
Orleans, I believe at the time, not but an hour and a half away from me.
About the time I moved to Mississippi, Marc Moved to Meridian. That was
actually about 2 hours north of where I was at the time or so... I had him
change my city then, and later, I moved to Bogue Chitto, MS. Marc, some
where in the way moved to Alabama. I never really thought about it till
later, when looking at the map on the website, Region 19 didn't cover
Mississippi, or Alabama. Doesn't really bother me any way, as I realy don't
know too many folks outside of Region 19, but thought it was interesting that
we're both out of region 19's area and yet still in region 19. Again, don't
matter to me, because I just want to be able to receive mail, and reply to
it. You know, like the golden rule of Fidonet... Don't be overly annoying,
or too easily annoyed... Granted, there is that other issue (unless folks
changed it), about wearing too many hats... But hey, if Marc wants to keep up
with a regional list and a net list, etc. I have no problem with that... I
used to do some of that, and as long as you don't have too many changes, it's
all fine and dandy, but if you don't watch out, you could get a lot of
headaches. Especially being RC and NC... I mean, do like Robert Starr did,
and have a boo-boo that drops his whole net out of the nodelist, then
something gets messed up on the same lines with the RC, next thing you know,
Zone 1 gets a lot smaller! I find from NC's and up, and Ex-NC's and up, in
fidonet there tends to be a lot of ego-control type attitudes... If you need
to be a control freak and think your some kind of emporer, then hey, I'll
vote you in to whatever position you want to be in! You'd probably make a
good ZC or IC if you have issues with being in control... Otherwise, unless
someone is just really doing a super horrible job, much like any of the
United States Senators, then I pretty much just vote to keep them where
they're at... Especially as I get older... The older I get, the more I
realize that I'd much rather someone else doing the grunt work, and letting
me enjoy doing what I like the most.... READING MAIL!

I remeber voting in one NC election for sure... I voted for Marc, because I re
ally didn't know anyone else in the election. Yeah, I know... Using that
rate, we might end up with Ghangas Kahn as IC, ZC, ZEC, REC, RC, NEC, and
NC... Wouldn't be long before he'd decide we didn't need Zones 2-5, and do
away with the IC position as well, since there was no other Zones to
Coordinate... Who knows, he might just decide to really cause havock by
re-structuring the Node Number format... Let's see....

Planet:Continent::State/County::City:Street/Address:bbsnumber

Eg. Earth is the '3rd rock from the sun', and let's assume North America is
Continent #2... I'm not about to go counting states and counties or cities,
etc. so we'll use fictionous numbers for them... My node number might look
like:

3:2::14/12::3:50/1581:1 and 3:2::14/12::3:50/1581:2 for my second BBS.

Now, wouldn't you want to just write a message to John
Guillory@3:2::14/12::3:50/1581:1, then send another copy to my 2nd BBS? ;-)

So like after all the sysops of fidonet trash off all their BBS software (or
write a kludge to re-map the zones), then we vote him back out of office,
because they're sick and tired of changing software... They re-vert to
original software and back to original node number schemes... ;-)

The only thing about electing Ghangus Kahn... It wouldn't be fight-o-net
much longer... I don't think too many folks would argue with a guy like
that... He's a lot like Madea... His diplomatic policy is... "There aint
one!" It's his way or ... The information highway!

Ugh, see what happens when folks start talking politics.... You get me wound
up on electing Evil guys into fidonet.... Now everyone Shake hands and be
happy, or we'll mark every node in fidonet DWN... All 5 zones! Send you
into a time-out for a week and see if you can learn to get along then....
Yes, that's right... In my experience in fast food, I've learned how to
talk to kiddies... ;-)
