Ärende: Subject of Bible belief...

To whomever finds this interesting....

As most know there is an ongoing discussion over gays and their rights as human
beings.  A few are taking the stance that the Bible (specifically Leviticus)
strictly forbids this action, which I agree, it does. But in that book there
are many other "banned" things which one must consider.  As an example... the
passages are marked in brackets.

1:  (3:17) eating fat... who here has not enjoyed a nice marbled steak on the
BBQ?
2:  (3:17) eating blood.. better not have that steak rare....
3:  (5:2) touching an unclean animal.. hope you're not a worker in a pork
lant.
4:  (10:6) letting your hair become unkept.. anyone have a stylist riding
shotgun?
5:  (10:6) tearing your clothes... guess most of the kids playing who rip out a
knee are condomned.
6:  (10:9) drinking alcohol in holy places.. guess those church run BBQ's are
off limits now.
7:  (11:4-7) eating an animal with divided hoof.. there goes the pulled pork...
8:  (11:8) touching the carcass of the above.. rugby and football are history.
9:  (11:10-12) eating or touching seafood without fins or scales... lobster
anyone??
10: (11:27) eating an animal which walks on all four and has paws.. no more
chinese for you cat lovers
    The above was a joke.
11: (11:41-42) eating or touching the carcas of a creature that crawls on its
belly.. no more     rattlesnake boots for you Texas folk...
12: (12:4) forbidding a woman from going to church services within 33 days
after having a boy child...     not sure what to say about this...
13: (12:5) forbidding a woman from going to church services within 66 days
after having a girl child...
    ditto on this one as well....
14: (18:19) having sex with a woman during her period... I'll leave this one up
to your imagination..
15: (18:20) having sex with your neighbor's wife... there goes the fantasy. (as
if this never happens)
16: (19:19) mixing fabrics in clothing.. there goes the wife's silk underwear
collection...
17: (19:19) planting different seeds in the same field... adios home
ardening..
18: (19:26) practising divination or seeking omens.. guess Mrs. Reagan could be
stoned to death for     consulting an astrology expert.
19: (19:27) trimming your beard... bye bye Remington and Shick
20: (19:27) cutting your hair at the sides... hair stylists don't have a
prayer...
21: (19:28) getting tattoos... 90% of the US Armed Forces are doomed...
22: (19:31) turning to mediums of spiritualists.. another one for Nancy and
Ronnie...
23: (25:23) selling land permanently.. there are no words I can use to describe
this one...

And last but not least.... for those bigoted folk who have no clue...

24: (19:33-34) mistreating foreigners.... and I quote.. othe foreigner residing
among you must be     treated as your native-borno.

The reasoning behind my posting this is to point out the Leviticus is not a
chinese menu whereas you pick one from column A and two from column B.  Either
you follow the ENTIRE document as it was written or that negates your choosing
those "parts" that suit your needs.  

Although the Old Testament is inspired Scripture and part of the Word of God,
its purpose was to point to the coming and work of Jesus Christ. Therefore,
when it comes to understanding what is required for Christian behavior, the Old
Testament must be interpreted in light of what the New Testament says u and the
New Testament says that the old covenant is obsolete (Hebrews 8:13).  Jesus did
not emphasize the same things Moses did. Moses wrote many chapters about the
tabernacle and the oplaceo in which God put his name. Jesus said that place did
not matter (John 4:20-24). Moses wrote many chapters about ritual uncleanness;
Jesus was much less concerned about it. Jesus gave much more emphasis to the
way people should treat each other, ie: Love thy neighbor. There lies the basis
of Christiananity, how people treat each other. God gave people free will and
the right to choose their own spiritualistic destiny. Who among us has the
right to restict those choices they make whether they agree with those choices
or not.

This is my final statement on this topic.  I know I'll not change the minds of
those who insist they have the right to judge people simply by the fact they
don't agree.  So be it.  That still doesn't change the fact God is the ultimate
judge and as such, may judge harshly on those who seem to think their
judgements surpasses that of His.
