I remember that place. My stepfather was in the Navy during WWII with
a guy who tended bar there, and took me there the year I went to
Vietnam. `Mickey Finn's?' or something like that. It had a sort of 1900
atmosphere. I never saw the place again after that.

That place still goes, although it may have a different name now. Its a
sort of a `drag' resturant/bar/floor show place in North Park. That the
place you mean? There were several `tranny' bars along El Cajon Blvd
east of Fairmont, but most of them are gone now. All th ecard rooms
are gone now, too. They went with the opening of the first few
casinos in the local reservations.


They renovated the entire freeway complex in that area where I 15 and 94
East came together not long after Archie Moore died and they got his
property from the family. The entire area has greatly changed. Many of
the businesses and bars that used to be around the freeway on both El
Cajon Blvd and University Ave are either gone or changed from the pawn
shops, bars, massage parlors, etc etc, to Vietnamese or Korean food
markets, resturants, used car lots, or apartment buildings.


The black and hispanic street gangs are still around, but have to
compete with the oriental street gangs now. Its not as dangerous
an area in the daytime as it was anymore. But at night its a lot
different.
